Ezanic 20% Gel is a topical medication containing Azelaic Acid. It is primarily used to treat mild to moderate acne (pimples). It is also effective in treating rosacea (a skin condition causing redness, flushing, and bumps on the face).

 

How It Works

 

Azelaic acid is a multi-action ingredient:

• Antibacterial: It kills the bacteria that live on the skin and cause acne (Propionibacterium acnes).
• Anti-inflammatory: It reduces the inflammation that causes redness and swelling.
• Keratolytic: It helps to unclog pores by slowing down the growth of skin cells that block them, which helps to reduce blackheads and whiteheads.
• Pigmentation: It can also help fade dark spots (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation) left behind by acne.

How to Use This Medicine

 

This medicine is for external use only. Always follow your doctor’s instructions.

1. Preparation: Gently wash the affected area with a mild, non-medicated cleanser and pat your skin dry.
2. Hygiene: Wash your hands before and after applying the gel.
3. Application: Apply a thin layer of the gel to the entire affected area (not just individual pimples) and gently rub it in.
4. Frequency: It is typically applied twice a day (morning and evening), unless your doctor directs otherwise.
   • For Sensitive Skin: Your doctor may advise you to start by applying it only once a day (in the evening) for the first week to let your skin adjust.
5. Avoid: Be careful to avoid getting the gel in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the area immediately with plenty of water.
6. Consistency: It usually takes a few weeks to see a noticeable effect, so keep using it even if it appears not to be working at first.

 

⚠️ Important Precautions & Warnings

 

• Irritation: Do not apply this gel to broken, inflamed, eczematous, or sunburned skin, as this can cause severe irritation.
• Sun Sensitivity: While not as strong as retinoids, Azelaic Acid can still make your skin sensitive to the sun. It is a good practice to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day.
• Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• Asthma: In rare cases, Azelaic Acid has been reported to worsen asthma. Inform your doctor if you have asthma and notice any changes in your breathing.
• Skin Color: In rare cases, it may cause changes in skin color (lightening or darkening), particularly in people with dark complexions. Report any skin color changes to your doctor.

 

Common Side Effects

 

It is very common to experience some mild side effects during the first few weeks as your skin adjusts. These usually go away on their own.
