The Gold Standard
Tretinoin Cream 0.05%
Also known as Retin-A. This 0.05% formulation is the balanced standard for accelerating skin cell turnover, treating persistent acne, and reversing signs of aging.
Deep Acne Defense
Highly effective against blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. It works by clearing pores and preventing them from becoming clogged in the first place.
Collagen Booster
Promotes collagen production to smooth rough facial skin and visibly reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles and sun damage.
Fades Dark Spots
Targets hyperpigmentation and discoloration caused by acne scars or sun exposure, evening out overall skin tone.
CRITICAL: Pregnancy Warning
DO NOT USE this medicine if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Tretinoin is a retinoid and is teratogenic (can cause severe birth defects).
Important Interactions & Procedures
- Antibiotics: Avoid using this with tetracycline antibiotics (like Doxycycline) as it can increase pressure in the brain.
- No Waxing: DO NOT wax your face. Tretinoin makes skin fragile; waxing can tear the skin.
- Sun Sensitivity: You must use SPF 30+ daily. Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds.
How to Use
Night Only
Apply once daily in the evening. Sunlight degrades the active ingredient and increases sensitivity.
The 20-Minute Wait
Wash with a mild cleanser and pat dry. Wait 20-30 minutes for skin to dry completely. Applying 0.05% strength to damp skin will cause significant stinging and irritation.
Pea-Sized Amount
Squeeze a pea-sized amount onto your fingertip. Spread a thin layer over the entire face (not just spots). Avoid eyes, mouth corners, and nose creases.
What to Expect
This 0.05% strength is potent. Irritation is very common during the first few weeks (“Retinization”).
- ✓ Dryness and peeling
- ✓ Redness (Erythema)
- ✓ Stinging/burning sensation
- ✓ The “Purge” (temporary acne flare)
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Retin-A 0.05% the same as this?
+
Yes. “Retin-A” is a brand name. “Tretinoin 0.05%” is the active ingredient. They are the exact same medication with the same effects.
Why is my skin so dry?
+
Tretinoin significantly reduces oil secretion. To manage this, apply a gentle moisturizer (like Vaseline or a heavy cream) and lip balm. Drink plenty of water.
Should I use Cream or Gel?
+
The Gel is often preferred for very oily, acne-prone skin as it is alcohol-based and drying. The Cream (this product) has an emollient base, making it better for anti-aging or those with normal/dry skin.
